About Us

Duke’s General Store was born from a desire to honour and preserve the legacy of Duke’s Boathouse, a Muskoka icon since 1924. For nearly a century, Duke’s has stood for craftsmanship, tradition, and a love for the water, building boats that became symbols of Muskoka’s adventurous spirit. As we approached the 100th anniversary of the boathouse, we felt it was the perfect moment to open a space that celebrates this rich history while inviting a new generation to experience the charm of Duke’s.

Our logo is directly inspired by a piece of Duke’s history. While researching at the Port Carling Museum, we discovered an old photo featuring a hand-drawn sign from the early days of Duke’s Boathouse. This sign became the foundation for our logo—a design with a handcrafted feel that captures the authenticity and simplicity of a bygone era.

In creating our merchandise, we wanted every piece to reflect this heritage. Our “1924” sweatshirt, for example, draws its inspiration from the serial numbers found on Duke’s original boats. Each unisex piece is crafted with versatility and timeless style in mind, allowing everyone to carry a piece of Muskoka’s history with them, whether by the lake or out on the town.

Duke’s General Store is more than just a shop—it’s a celebration of Muskoka’s past and a nod to its future. We hope our collection brings a bit of that spirit, authenticity, and timeless charm into your world.
